What's up!
What's up yall!!
Welcome back to another email here with Elder Baucom. We had to wake up early this morning so mind the grammar on this one. This week was a great week with some highs and lows. We will start it off with another great p day. We played pickleball for like the whole day. (Gave em the work) Then we just sat around mostly. It's always nice to have those days of nothing cause you never really have those as a missionary.
The next couple days were way stormy and it actually rained the most it has my whole time being here. Nobody really wants to talk to us in the rain so we went inside to text some of our old friends and a girl whos name was Diana stuck out to me and I privately texted her. She said she might come to church so we didnt think anything of it but she came on Sunday and since she is younger we introduced her to the ysa and now she's on date!
Eventually the storm passed and it was all sunshine and rainbows like it always is. After that we went to what was a zone conference thing where Elder Daines and his wife came and talked to us. They were way cool and he gave us a great deeper meaning on what being a disciple is. He also emphasized how important baptism is and really motivated me and my companion to end off our last week strong.
And yes this is my last week with my companion Elder Ford rip. He has been a great example of a hard working missionary for me to be able to follow. It's crazy how quick this transfer went and I am so grateful for all I have been able to learn.
Highlights of the week
-Got stood up on a lesson after a guy decided he wanted to grow closer to Christ after getting stood up
-We got to do some service done with a returning member and we were able to chat him up a bunch
-Was able to get some great lessons in this week
-Played some pickup football with some youngins at a park for a little bit
Spiritual thought
Alma 26:11-12
10 And it came to pass that when Ammon had said these words, his brother Aaron rebuked him, saying: Ammon, I fear that thy joy doth carry thee away unto boasting.
11 But Ammon said unto him: I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God.
This is one of my favorite verses and for some context this is Aaron and Ammon who just got back from one of the greatest missions of all time. They talk of their great success and Aaron says how he is afraid of their boasting. When things go well its easy to forget God and to look at yourself and take credit. In reality God has given us all of these blessings and these trials. It's important to be boastful of your God within the highs and lows of life and thats something I have really been trying to implement into mission work.
