What's up everybody, another good 2 weeks here in Providence, Virginia. Start of me being out of training. Chahooo.
We just recently got the news that our p day has been changed so that it's 11-9 and we have 3 hour weekly planning. We found out that you can actually plan for 3 hours. It was pretty lit actually. Also we have lessons tonight so we kinda just got our p day taken a little bit. So I am speed running this email not gonna lie
As we started this transfer we got the news that our car is gone again. So we are back to biking everywhere. It snowed the other day so we are bundled up like the Michelin man just riding round Providence. It's a good time.
We had a zone conference this week where all the missionaries in the southern part of Virginia come together and get fired up. It was really inspiring and there was some really great insights.
We have been teaching some awesome people. We had our friend Kennesha who just rolled up on us after being taught by missionaries saying how she is officially ready to be baptized. She was taught almost a year ago and it made me see how big of an impact missionaries can make on a person. She had been preparing for a year for this moment. What a goat. Outside of that we had another awesome miracle. A returning member just called us up saying how they want their 12 year old kid to be baptized. Crazy week honesty.
Thursday we were out finding all day and we had a crazy interaction where we were going to visit one of our returning members. We had tried to visit him multiple times and I had only met him once with Elder Rogers. As we were going to visit him we drove past a homeless guy who Elder Rogers swears is the returning member. I tell him no way and he makes us turn around and talk to him and that was him. He lives in a nice house on a lake with a car and he's on the corner with a sign saying homeless anything helps. As we make eye contact with his sign we ask him how he's doing and he acts like nothing is wrong. Gotta pay the bills somehow I guess. So next time we knock on his house and he is not home we can always check the street corner.
On Saturday we had another crazy interaction where we had all 5 lessons of ours fall through. We depressingly made our way through some dark parking lots talking to some people about Jesus and we came across a girl who we had talked to a couple weeks before who had seen a bunch of fake stuff on the internet about our church. Elder Rogers was able to answer all of her questions really well and she was kinda taken aback. Now we saw her again and she told us that if she saw us again she would come to church. As we rolled up to her again she agreed she would be there. I was giving a talk the next day so I felt like I had a bunch of pressure on me. I talked about eternal families and she had a paper and pen in sacrament taking notes on everything. Everything went somewhat well and afterwards Elder Rogers talked to her for 40 minutes reviewing everything I said which was good because if anybody looked at the come follow me lesson outline for that week this was best. It was way cool to see someone go from a complete atheist to seriously considering our church.
Spiritual thought-
9 For behold, by the power of his word man came upon the face of the earth, which earth was created by the power of his word. Wherefore, if God being able to speak and the world was, and to speak and man was created, O then, why not able to command the earth, or the workmanship of his hands upon the face of it, according to his will and pleasure?
10 Wherefore, brethren, seek not to counsel the Lord, but to take counsel from his hand. For behold, ye yourselves know that he counseleth in wisdom, and in justice, and in great mercy, over all his works.
I love these verses a lot. Recently I have been frustrated with things I can't control and I have realized that all things happen for a divine reason. Taking counsel from Gods hand and learning to adapt and do whatever he gives you joyfully is a great way of showing faith in God.
Love yall
