What's up!

Image
What's up yall!! Welcome back to another email here with Elder Baucom. We had to wake up early this morning so mind the grammar on this one. This week was a great week with some highs and lows. We will start it off with another great p day. We played pickleball for like the whole day. (Gave em the work) Then we just sat around mostly. It's always nice to have those days of nothing cause you never really have those as a missionary.  The next couple days were way stormy and it actually rained the most it has my whole time being here. Nobody really wants to talk to us in the rain so we went inside to text some of our old friends and a girl whos name was Diana stuck out to me and I privately texted her. She said she might come to church so we didnt think anything of it but she came on Sunday and since she is younger we introduced her to the ysa and now she's on date!  Eventually the storm passed and it was all sunshine and rainbows like it always is. After that we went to w...

Greetings

What's up yall another just finished up another week somehow and this was a very good week. To start it off our p day we went to top golf and it's safe to say that I still got it. We were then able to talk to a lot of nice people that night. My companion and I talked about having faith that we will find people and after that we were able to talk with so many people who were interested in church.  Because of this it became one of our best weeks. It's been really amazing seeing the fruits of our labor after what was a dry week the week before. Outside of finding we also had some great lessons. We met with Austin who had such an awesome testimony and he dang near brought me to tears. Can't wait to meet with him again. We also taught a woman named Honey who had not heard anything about our church but was once a devout catholic. We were pretty nervous about bringing up the Book of Mormon but as we were in the middle of introducing it she said how she needed it. That was way ...

Providence Week 4

Howdy yall it's been yet another week here in Providence and it seems to just be going faster and faster every week. This week was one of the more testing weeks on my mission. We didn't find a whole lot of people and with that there were quite a few bashers mixed in as well. It has honestly been a blessing in disguise though because every person who tries to bash us has been giving us new questions we have been able to take apart. Each one we were able to come up with a great response too.  It really has made me confident in our gospel.   This week me and Elder Ford were able to go on an exchange with our zone leaders who are way fun and are great examples of missionaries. They are also great teachers so it was way cool to see a great lesson up close and personal. I was with Elder Johnson and we were chopping it up about bball and he also has one of the best Peter Griffin impressions I have ever heard.  Also on Saturday we were able to visit the college campus...

Providence Week 3

What's up everybody! Yet another great week here in Providence and it’s crazy to me that a week has passed since my last email. It's already starting to go so fast. This week started off with me and Elder Ford being solo since the other companionship in our apartment was on an exchange with another companionship. It felt really weird living with just one other person but elder Ford still made it fun. This week we also had our exchange but it was with the companionship in our apartment who we share the same area with which was probably one of my favorite days on the mission. The other companions are starting their own area as well so most of the people they teach are just people found on the street so me and Elder Sharp were just out finding all day. We worked really well together and this was probably my most successful day on the mission after what was a somewhat dry week.  Highlights of da week  -Met Mrs. Utah and we made sure to invite her to church. She also made us...

Providence Week 2

Howdy y'all! Bear with me here I am not running a bit low on sleep. We went and saw the sunrise this morning so this email may not make sense. The last week has been super awesome! I feel like I am finally comfortable being here in this area. I was able to meet most of the people that we were teaching. I also got some last minute cancels on lessons too. But when they did end up happening most of them were pretty spiritual experiences. In one of them I was able to give a priesthood blessing which was way cool. We still are a little bit low on people to teach because we are started this area one transfer ago so when we go out finding we really need to find people.  Finding people or going out and talking to people in parking lots is what we have been mainly doing and through doing that you can truly see the duality of man. I have been cussed out or met some of the nicest dudes ever. One of them was Lavon who we met outside Walmart and we talked for like an hour and a half. Whe...

Providence, sweet Providence

What up yall! Got here in Virginia on wenesday and its been a great time. My companion is an awesome dude. His name is Elder Ford and he is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He's been a great trainer and he has taught me so much in my small time being here in Virginia. I also am living with two other Elders who are also way cool, Elder Whaley, and Elder Sharp. We have a great apartment with all the stuff you could need. Maybe a little short on food but that changes on p day today.  When I first got here I got my welcome to the field moment as we dropped my bags the second we got here and rode in a crazy rain storm to go invite people to church in a parking lot only to get Bible bashed. I thought that would be the normal until the next day we invited in parking lots and people and the weather were a lot nicer to us. A lot of people around here already have a church and don't love the idea of going to another church. It has been fun experimenting different ways to invi...

MTC Part 2

Image
Hey everybody! Finishing out my last day in the provo mtc and its for sure mixed emotions. Like I said in my last email I did get super lucky with my district we all got super tight over this last week and my companion is no longer a man of few words which has been so much better for companion studies and what not. My testimony has grown so much while here and I genuinely think i have learned more about the church in the last two weeks then I have I my life. It's gonna suck saying goodbye to everyone today but I'm craving a change of scenery so bad so the feelings are pretty mixed. Good luck to you boys who are here for 9 weeks. We have had a pretty interesting week this week! Elder Bills (comp) wanted a haircut at the barber and I figured I would join him. Hearing the horror stories of how bad the barbers are I tried to stay as far away from the barber as possible but the lady somehow convinced me to get my ears cleaned up and it led to a full on haircut so now I have a pret...

What's up everyone! Im writing this on my new android phone with really bad autocorrect so bear with me here.  5th day of provo MTC and I think I finally might be locked in on the missionary lifestyle. Being able to wake up at 6:30 every day has truly been a miracle. Bless up. I would seriously kill for a nap but I guess those aren't allowed around here. I got super lucky with my district we all get along pretty well. My companion Elder Bills is a dog. He has been telling me about his adventures in the harsh mountains of Idaho. He doesn't say much but when he does it's gospel. We had our first teaching appointment yesterday and even with practicing humility we killed it. Turns out the MTC teaching appointment are actors but hey a wins a win.  We have had some pretty spiritual classes and thanks to my teachers my testimony has grown so much over the last week. My favorite part so far has been my personal studies. The people in my district know everything there is to kn...
